Wow!  What a welcome!

Thanks very much to all who "friended" me and responded to my first post here on LJ.  I have to say that it was quite a pleasant surprise.  I maintain a blog at wordpress.com as well, and while I've had a few comments there, the response was nothing like this.  I guess I have Steve Leigh -- [info]sleigh -- to thank for that.  Thanks, my friend.

This is what I was hoping Wordpress would be:  a place where I could find a community of writers and like-minded folks.  Glad I found it, even if it did take longer than I'd thought it would.

You're welcome. Do I get to say "Told you so!" now?

I'd prefer a purely chronological comment thread as well. My solution has been to maintain the blog in both places with twin postings. So far it seems to be working, and I feel that I'm getting the benefits of both sites.

I prefer this style of threading to the purely chronological kind, but it took me a little while to get used to, and I wish more people felt comfortable commenting in threads of comments exchanged between other people; I sense a reluctance to butt into other people's conversations, and I'd like all the conversations to be everybody's conversation. But LJ etiquette can be a bizarre thing in a lot of ways.

Anyhow, great to see you here!

Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out the etiquette thing, though I'm sure it'll come clear before long. In any case, thanks for the welcome and the comment.
