Already voted in absentee ballot, thanks!

Whee! I love lists AND politics AND Fiction AND Movies AND music. What could be better?

SF/Fantasy political intrigues:

Trying to stick to just a book, not a series... Difficult. Some I like for complexity and interesting plot twists, but some just because of the political statement they make.

1. The Prince of Nothing, by F. Scott Bakker
2. Looking for the Mahdi, by N. Lee Wood
3. Royal Assassin, by Robin Hobb
4. Dune Messiah, by Frank Herbert (liked the sequal, politically)
5. Jingo, by Terry Pratchett

Political Movies:

Assuming political dramatics, not documentaries. I like what all these very political movies say about human nature and the nature of political conflict.

1. I, Claudius
2. Swimming to Cambodia
3. Dr. Zhivago
4. Smiley's People
5. Jesus Christ Superstar (Not Political? Au contraire!)

Political Songs

Very difficult. I think these are my top ones because they have something very substantial to say, but I would find it easier with a list of 20, not 5!

1. Stories of the Street, Leonard Cohen
2. The Flesh Failures, Ragni/Rado (from Hair)
3. Cygnet Committee, David Bowie
4. Forgotten Years, Midnight Oil
5. A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall, Bob Dylan

Yeah, but it's not an important one. I wouldn't sweat it....
