Instead of the RNC

No, I won't be watching the GOP convention this week, although I may tune in to McCain's speech on Thursday.  But listening to Joe Lieberman speak makes my head explode, and it would just get worse from there.

Instead I'm going to retreat into my own private fantasy world, a place in which a liberal intellectual from New England can actually win a national election; in which the President of the United States is articulate, erudite, and genuinely compassionate; and in which American military might is used judiciously.  In other words, I'll be watching old episodes of The West Wing....

You would LOVE West Wing, Alis. The writing, particularly in the first 3 or 4 seasons was better than anything I've ever seen on TV.

Hope you enjoy the book. Hope David does, too. Good luck with the draft. I know my name on a book jacket doesn't mean as much as yours, but let me know if you want me to see a draft or an ARC.

Be glad you missed it. But compared to years past, it was pretty tame.

Well, between Thompson, McCain, and Lieberman you have a lot of years represented. I'd imagine it would be tame. And then they'll air some "Matlock" reruns....

Never *ever* underestimate the Republicans. It was actually a pretty solid night for them. I don't think I'm going to watch tonight--I'll just watch the speeches online tomorrow.

And tomorrow night--football!! Yay, a distraction!

Isn't it funny how the nation likes those things so much when they're fictional, but can't quite seem to put it together in real life?

"Funny" is one word for it. "Dismaying", "Idiotic", and "Tragic" also come to mind....

Finally, we have sanity on the TV. Ya'll should watch it and purify your minds of the Democratic pollution. *wink*

I will say that I was upset at the NBC for continously commentating overtop the speeches. Just sit back and let the audience listen to it without the mindless commentary!

CNN did the same thing during the DNC, Mark. Very annoying. I recommend C-Span. Just the speeches. No commentary. Of course, for the Republican Convention I also recommend the mute button....

Yeah, I'm not watching it either, nor will I watch McSame's speech or Milfy McMooseburger's. I'll spend the extra time writing....

"Milfy McMooseburger's"

I just had to stop and laugh.

Yeah, "Milfy McMooseburger" got me, too. KMH, you really need to get yourself a regular gig on Huffington or FireDogLake. The world would be a better place if your political commentary reached a broader audience.
