D.B. Jackson is Open for Business!

D.B. JacksonThe website, Facebook account, and other web-based manifestations of my new pseudonym, D.B. Jackson, are finally up and running.  You can find "D.B."'s website and blog at http://www.dbjackson-author.com and can find D.B. on Facebook as both a regular person-page (dbjackson) and as a fan page (D.B. Jackson).  D.B. is also on Twitter and Good Reads, though those accounts are not yet fully active.

Why all the activity?  Well, it's true that the first D.B. Jackson novel, Thieftaker, volume I in the Chronicles of the Thieftaker, won't be out from Tor Books until May 2012.  But D.B.'s first short story, "The Tavern Fire," appears in the upcoming anthology, After Hours:  Tales from the Ur-Bar, edited by Joshua Palmatier and Patricia Bray.  After Hours will be out March 1, from DAW.  And over the course of this year, D.B. will be posting sample chapters and original short fiction to his website.  In fact, the first three chapters of Thieftaker are available there already.  So check out the site, come by and "like" D.B.'s Facebook page, and stay tuned for more news!

Thanks, Sherwood.

I have to say, I was (pleasantly) surprised by the friend request on FB last night, but that sounds really smart of you to establish a web presence and drum up anticipation prior to the book's release.

Yeah, I hope it's smart. It might not end up helping at all, but I figure it can't hurt. Thanks for friending back!

Me, too.

YOu don't realize this, David, but you are one of the very few people I've ever friended, also the first person I tried to friend...usually, I just accept invitations that come to me--So, having you send me an invitation seemed particularly delightful. I was honored. ;-)

Actually, I think I'm the one who should feel honored. Thank you for friending me, Jagi.

Thanks for the info. Will check out the sites.

Did have to smile at the use of the DB name as if it was actually another person.

"Good ole DB. Great guy. Went to college together. Boy that dude could party...."

Also, will you and DB be at Dragoncon together? :-)

Glanced at the web site...it seems you're sticking with the psuedonym...except for the footer copyright...wonder if anyone will figure out who the real DB is!?!?!?!

Finally...cuz this joke could run for at least a week...maybe the IRS can go after DB to collect your taxes.....

It's what they call in the business "an open secret," meaning that for branding purposes, and for the benefit of the millions who don't know who David B. Coe is, we seem like different people. But for those who know me, and for those who actually take the time to read the copyright statement, yeah, they'll know. And D.B. doesn't have a social security number, so I'm guessing the IRS won't find him. Although rumor has it that he's been using my number when he signs contracts, the bastard.

Well, he is turning over his checks to you...or more like the rest of us, to your wife.

So quit gripin'!

Will have to look into this author more closely...I'm fascinated by the idea of a pre-revolutionary, urban area in Boston and if that is over 3 blocks in size.... ;)

Just blogged about this at D.B.'s blog. The city was actually fairly big, for that time. 3rd largest in the colonies, and a bit of a sprawl, actually. They built out, not up.

Has anyone ever seen them together? DB's kind of a blurry guy...has anyone ever seen him with anyone?
Feb. 18th, 2011 02:58 am (UTC)
They aren't often seen together. Either that, or they're ALWAYS together. I can never remember....
Feb. 18th, 2011 02:55 am (UTC)
Actually, we will be at DragonCon together. I'm not bringing my wife, so my complimentary guest badge says D.B. Jackson. :)

I never thought about the extra time and energy needed to be two people.
Feb. 18th, 2011 02:59 am (UTC)
Yeah, I think I'm only starting now to grasp just how much work it's going to be.
