Robin Hood Jacket Art!

Robin Hood, a novelization by David B. CoeSo, as of yesterday the novelization of Robin Hood is in production.  The books are being printed and after a long process of editing, revising, and working with the studio to make the book as true to the script and the shoot as possible, and also as effective a stand-alone novel as possible, my work is pretty much done.  The novelization will be released on April 27; the movie comes out on May 14.

And finally I can share with you the jacket art for the book.  No surprise that Russell Crowe is on the cover, but still I think it's a pretty cool image.

I'll post more about the process when I have some more distance from it, and when I'm not coming down to the wire on my next book.  But I did want to thank all of you who have been so supportive as I've struggled to meet the various deadlines on this project.  It's been exciting, and it's been a challenge.  I'm glad to be working on my own books again, but I would jump at the chance to write another novelization.  I think....

Downright Coolation!

Completely unrelated. I have a character in my current novel who uses the false name of Orlando Crowe. Just yesterday, I stopped to wonder if someone might think I'd gotten it from combining Orlando Bloom and Russell Crowe. But no. The story has been in the works so long that I had not heard of either of those actors when I made it up. ;-)

Just as long as he doesn't fall for Britney Aguilera you should be all right.... ;)

Thanks for the comment, Jagi.

I'll be interested to hear what you have to say about the process.

I'd like to put together a post on it, but will probably need to wait at least until the movie is out. It would be hard to discuss in a meaningful way from a writing standpoint without including a spoiler or two....

That looks awsome! You can't go wrong with Russell Crowe.

I might be mistaken but doesn't it say "David B. Coe" as the author on the cover? I thought you were going to penname it?

Thanks, Mark. Yes, for a short while I did consider writing this under the 'nym, but in the end, we (my editor, agent, and I) decided that it would be better to do this under my name and see if we could use it to build new readership for the backlist (Winds and Blood of the Southlands). The nym's first release is still far enough away that an April 2010 release wasn't going to help it much.
