Jon Stewart is my Hero

This was classic.  Last night, The Daily Show lampooned this past weekend's Tea Party Convention, and it did so brilliantly.  Watch the first segment, if you don't believe me.

This is especially cool, because the convention so richly deserved to be lampooned, whether because of Tom Tancredo's xenophobic rant, or Sarah Palin's mindless keynote in which she mocked Barack Obama for using a teleprompter while glancing down at the crib notes she had scrawled in pen on the palm of her hand.  This is the future of American politics?  I don't think so.

Tancredo: He's hilarious. Considering the spelling skills of the teabaggers, he might want to rethink the idea of having a test to be able to vote. Nothing like completely destroying the GOP with one really stupid idea. Why does he hate rednecks? :-)

I don't get the Tea Party. It was started in 2004 but they didn't say anything until Obama was in office. Now, they're all concerned about cutting the Federal Deficit...during a recession...but worried about jobs...and even though most of them will be getting a tax cut this year (the people financing them won't), they want across the board tax cuts... Good economic theory there folks...

Did you see the segment with John Oliver at the RNC Winter Meetings in that foreign country? You know...Hawaii!

Funny: The Dems are going after 71 GOPpers who bashed (and some voted against) the stimulus and then took credit for the money their states got...

Worth watching and remembering the next time says the stimulus failed. BTW: I.love.Rachel! :-)

Also...McCaskill goes the same route only against MO legislators who blast DC but are using stimulus money to balance their budgets. She suggests they let her know what they don't need so DC can have that money back...

Time to play hardball...

I hadn't seen the Oliver segment until today. Totally hilarious. And it's good to see the Dems on the offensive. And about damn time. Thanks for the comments.

One other point about the hypocrisy and use of National Security for political purposes.

Palin wearing a Black Memorial bracelet during her appearance at the Tea Party convention. One problem: They're supposed to be only worn to remember military members who have died.

Hate when that happens!

Apparently, Palin had the right to wear the bracelet...while her son was deployed overseas. He's back now though. So, while it's inappropriate, it's not as bad as I originally thought.

So Palin made fun of Obama's use of written speeches, but used mnemonics jotted on her hands. Whoop. Heat and kitchens and crap like that.

Political commentary is a lot like literary criticism, you need a thick hide when subjected to either.
