Is this the Other Shoe?

For those of us waiting for the other shoe to drop in the Sarah Palin "I'm-Taking-My-Toys-And-Going-Home" saga, it might have happened today.

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/07/21/sarah.palin/index.html

In a suitably ironic twist, it seems that Sarah!'s legal defense fund might not have been so legal after all.  What a shocker....

What will late night comics do without her?

Don't worry, her supporters won't believe anything bad said about her anyway. She'll still be here to kick around in 2012. Bet on it.

Probably true.

Salon is reporting that it is more smoke than fire.

Of course, the piece below that report says, "Palin signed a resolution passed by her state's legislature that aligns her with the 'state sovereignty' movement, a growing force on the right-wing fringe."

I can see the bumper stickers now: "She's not a crook, she's just a kook."

I read further in the article - sounds like the investigator would have exonerated her if he could. A very technical decision that the headline makes sound much worse than it actually is.

Not that I would have minded the show actually dropping.

I dunno. Sounds like Politics as Usual to me. I don't see how this does anything but hurt her, even if it doesn't lead to an indictment.

Just another assault on her because she had the audacity to run against Barack Obama. She was the only one in the election who was a conservative and now she is paying the price for it.

The Liberals have made her their #1 target. Why? If she really was such a baffoon, why would she and her family be hounded and hunted so much? You would think they would leave her alone, but the truth is, Liberals fear her. That is why they have launched such a constant onslaught against her and her family. She energizes the Right-wing like no other polician since Reagan.

I look forward to 2010 and 2012, that is when the conservatives take back control. We had to live through Carter to get Reagan. We will have to live through Obama to get Palin.

The assaults on her have been because she is self-aggrandizing, insincere, and dangerously unqualified -- both in terms of experience and intellect -- for any higher office. The assaults she launched against Obama during the campaign were beyond the pale in every way -- they heightened racial and religious tensions, they relied on innuendo and guilt by association, and they were filled with half-truths and outright lies. She has shown again and again that she is willing to do anything, regardless of moral concerns, to further her own career.

Do I fear her? Damn right I do. Not because she's conservative, but because she is a mindless ideologue and a megalomaniac, and because given that this country elected George W. Bush twice, we might just be stupid enough to elect her, too.

The "onslaught on her family" has been entirely her doing. From the day McCain chose her as his running mate, she has used her kids and her husband as political props. She made them part of her political persona, she dragged Bristol and Levi into the spotlight because it helped her. She can't complain about questions regarding her illegal use of state funds to pay for their travel if she's going to drag them all around the country for photo ops and free vacations. She can't complain about the Troopergate scandal because it was entirely of her own making. She can't complain about this latest investigation because it is clear that she violated state laws regarding legal defense funds. For someone who talks about leadership and responsibility and being maverick, she certainly spends a lot of time whining about people picking on her.

Is she anymore unqualified than Barack Obama? At least she has executive leadership experience.

She may have some megalomania going on but name a politician who doesn't? However so far, I haven't seen any "mindless idealogue" come from her. She is quite intelligent. She is not perfect, but name someone who is?

The onslaught on her family is not her doing. When she got the nomination, she did not parade them out any more than Barack did Michelle. Yet the perosnal attacks on her and her children by the Liberal media have been shameful. Name one bad thing the media reported about Michelle or his children? Sarah had to put up with calls for her to "stay at home to care for her kids" (and that from liberals mind you) and Bristol being called a slut. Did we hear about Biden's druggy daughter and demands that he leave office to care for her? Double standards in the media is obvious.

The travel violation she paid back. The latest so called "violation" is not even proven. The report that got to the media was a Preliminary Report leaked by a Democrat Operative as it states in this CNN article, its early release was against the law. http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/07/22/palin.ethics.response/index.html?eref=rss_politics

Frivilous ethics complaints against her (which were almost nil before the Election) have caused her personally $500,000 and more were on the way. No wonder she left office. The Liberals litigated her onto the brink of bankruptcy just because she dared to run for public office.

She never recieved money from this Fund and she doesn't run/operate it.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree, as we have so many times before. :)

Sure we can agree to disagree, but it sure is fun to debate. *wink*
