A Question and Writing Stuff

Okay, question of the week:  Why is it that a haircut never looks good the first day?  Is it me?  Is it curly hair?  Is it a guy thing?

Yeah, got a haircut this morning.  I suppose I'll get used to it.

Good writing days yesterday and today.  About 1,500 words each day on the second chapter.  I still don't have a title for this book.  The first book in the trilogy was THE SORCERERS' PLAGUE, and the second is called THE HORSEMEN'S GAMBIT.  I like both those titles a lot, and want something for this one that's as good.  It'll come to me eventually, but I'm getting tired of just calling it "book three".

::shakes head:: For me it's the opposite: I love the way my hair looks just after it's been cut or styled, but the next day - after I've showered and tried to style it myself - it never looks quite as good.

I like both those titles, but especially "The Horseman's Gambit." I vote for another title referring to horses... :D

Yeah, there's a surprise... ;)

I have to say the same: The first day, when the stylist has done it, it looks fabulous. I can never achieve the same result at home, which makes me more frustrated than I should be about something as silly as hair. ;)

It's the opposite for me, too. A haircut on the first day always looks perfect. And for some reason, I can never get it to look quite the way it did on that first day. (But then again, when I mow my lawn, it always looks good right after it's been mowed. It never looks as good to me the next day.)

Okay, I'm starting to get the sense here that I'm just weird. No big surprise, really. But I suppose it's reassuring to have the confirmation.....

P.S. Is the Horsemen's Gambit done, then? Have you got a release date for it? I'll ask for an advance copy if you do. :)

The Horsemen's Gambit is done and in production, but we're still early in the process. I haven't even gotten the copyedits back yet. The release date, I believe, is January '09, so I doubt that review copies will be available before late summer or early fall. Email me with your information and I'll see if I can get you on the list for review copies, provided you're actually doing a review. :)

I should get a copy. I review for Romantic Times Book Reviews, in the SF/F section. :)

I'd be happy to be on your list, though. I'll send the email anyway.

Did you write that wonderful RT review of THE SORCERERS' PLAGUE?!

Yes, that was me! I'm surprised you read the review, RT isn't your typical SF/F review forum.

I really loved THE SORCERER'S PLAGUE. It was great work.

Victoria, I'm surprised at you. NEVER underestimate the ability of a writer to find a good review ANYWHERE! :)Actually, my friend Jana Oliver pointed me to the review, and my agent tracked it down for me. Thanks very much for the kind review. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
