Joe Wilson's War

A follow-up to yesterday's post, for those of you who might not have read all the comment threads.

While Joe Wilson is being lionized by Rush Limbaugh and other wing-nutters for calling his commander-in-chief a liar (Wilson is a veteran of the Guard), others are digging a little deeper into Wilson's background and finding out all sorts of cool things.  Turns out, Ole Joe is not only a disrespectful, loudmouth thug.  He's also a hypocrite.  (Many thanks to hedwig_snowy  for the link)

It does point out that he has voted against healthcare for veterans 11 times (even when voting to send soldiers off to war), so he is consistent.

Well, not like there's a dearth of hypocrisy anywhere in DC.

And, to be fair, I get why everyone is pissed about a Congressman breaking House rules and calling the President a liar (let alone in front of 32 million viewers in America alone), but I'm not sure I agree with the attack on his voicing dissent to the Commander in Chief. Certainly it's hypocritical after the last 8 years of Bush when even civilians were called traitors (and worse) for questioning anything George did. But, I have no problem with a former military member voicing non-violent dissent against the CiC. Just let's not do it in the house chambers eh, Bubba?

I am giggling looking at the RW blogs this week. An editor of one (RS, and I ain't linking :)) stated, "Conservative Activists Are Proving to be a Pathetic Bunch" because there is no financial support behind Wilson.

Last time I checked, Wilson's opponent, Miller, has collected $768000 since Wed. Wilson? $620. (ActBlue Miller total vs Wilson SlateCard total)

Right. My point in mentioning the CIC thing is that you just KNOW that Wilson would have been one of the people calling dissenters traitors during the W years.

And that's just wonderful that Miller has raised so much so quickly.

Aw, c'mon, you're trying to make me believe Joe Wilson (R-Shithole) is a just another slack-jawed RepubliKan hypocrite? Why that's...that's....

Oh. Wait. They ARE hypocrites.

Gotcha. ;)

Yeah, I know. This surprises no one, but the article is pretty amazing for what it reveals about the depths of his hypocrisy.

Saturday Giggles...
for me anyway...the GOP has put out a survey trying to get donations for the RNC.

The survey is filled with humorous strawmen and leading questions.

Yes, the RNC does really believe that the people on it's mailing list are that stupid.

Re: Saturday Giggles...
Yeah, this is pretty funny. Although I have to admit that I get DNC "survey" mailings all the time, and the DNC questions are pretty ludicrous, too.

Re: Saturday Giggles...
The DNC actually called me (no clue why as I've never donated to them specifically but all of them probably share lists)recently. Prior to the call, I had thought I would mention that I wouldn't donate to them until they passed a public option (even though I've only donated to individual candidates in the past and would only continue to do so in the future). So...a bit of a white lie...not close to being a Beckerhead...

Anywho, I actually just started giggling/laughing softly and said, "I won't be able to help you at this time. Bye." Pretty much my standard line for this sort of thing.

Maybe I should make a list of things to say if the RNC ever calls me... :-)
